[PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION]
| 02/18/2009 | Kennewick High School Alumni Association Meeting | The meeting was called to order by Cliff Ledford, acting president, at 7:10 pm. Everyone introduced themselves. Attending the first KHS Alumni Association meeting were Jack Anderson, principal of KHS and the two assistant principals, Dennis Boatman and Pete Peterson.
Dennis Boatman advised the AA that all the pictures that used to hang in the hallways of Kennewick High went missing after a remodeling project. He has been unable to find out what happened to those pictures. The school is searching for a way to replace the lost pictures.
Pete Peterson spoke to the AA about Kennewick High School starting a KHS Hall of Fame. A draft of the form for nominating people to the KHS Hall of Fame was passed out. Once the committee working on the Hall of Fame completes their work on the nomination form, it will be made available on the KeHS website for downloading. The KHS Hall of Fame Committee hopes to induct 3 to 6 people a year into the Hall of Fame. The committee also would like to induct, once in a while, a person that has contributed greatly to KHS and the community but is not a graduate of Kennewick High.
Cliff Ledford gave a short history of how the AA was started and the work that went into the By-Laws of the KHSAA. The By-Laws were read and discussed. Amendments were made and passed. Jim Bateman made a motion to accept the By-Laws as amended, Dave Britton seconded. Passed without dissent.
Nominations were then opened for temporary officers, terms to run until January 2010. After a nomination was made for each position, a vote was taken. The temporary officers for the new KHSAA are: Cliff Ledford, president; Jim Bateman, vice-president, Jean Alexander, secretary/treasurer.
Jim Bateman suggested the KHSAA might consider the Benton County Fair and Rodeo Parade in August. It would be a great way to advertise the new alumni association. This was met with a lot of enthusiasm. Also mentioned was the 4th of July parade that is held annually in Pasco. There was much talk of the old rivalry that used to exist between KHS and PHS. Jim Bateman will talk to Dave Ross regarding the AA using his float.
The website was discussed and the committee was advised they will need to find a new webmaster. Stan Colson has been contacted for his input.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm. No time was set for the next meeting.
