KHS 2008 All Class Reunion
~General Meeting~

Called to order at 7:04 by President Joe Byrne. Officers present included Bill McCollom, Eva Hubbard, and Angie Hall.

Good of the Group:

A well known and respected Lion has passed on; Vernal Shreve will be greatly missed. Another Lion, Dan Yeager has had an operation, but is expected to be ok. On a lighter note:

The History channel mentioned our school; they were bringing up the fact that the school has 100 years… yeah that’s right, 100 years of Lion Pride! From 1908-2008… that’s an awesome record we are proud of!

There was mention of February birthdays, some of our more elegant ladies in fact, Happy Birthday!!

Bill McCollom read the minutes of the last meeting. Approved as read with some minor changes.

Eva Hubbard gave the financial report. We paid outstanding bills. The balance in the bank is $14,194.76. We paid $1,009.00 for tee-shirts… Let’s get them sold!

Old/Unfinished Business:

Just a reminder: The Class of 2008 has tickets for sale; they are raising money for their Senior Class Party. They are having an Italian dinner at the high school. March 8th 5pm-8pm. Cost is $5.00/person or $20.00/family of 5. Please call 582-5908 for tickets.

Reminder: Please go to the businesses with the posters in them and repost. After 30 days some businesses take them down. Also Dottie Aman could use some help to pass them out. Please call her with any help you can offer.

The Public Relations Committee gave a very detailed report. They have looked into many local newspapers for advertising. The committee is looking for a person to be interviewed, someone that has lived here in Tri-Cities a long time and can talk about the changes they have seen. If interested, please call Joyce (Long) Kenney, phone # 586-9266.

Motion made for $500.00 to be spent on advertising, motion passed.

Also, the committee has put together sponsor packets. These packets are a huge asset to the Reunion. They give the sponsor the name recognition at the Reunion. They are being sold at levels of:

Silver package - $500.00
Gold package - $1000.00

The sponsor gets a banner and a web-site ad included in the package.

A report was given about the food vendors; we have confirmed the following; Wendy’s Dogs, Monkey Bread, Knights of Columbus, Jessie’s Mexican Food and Sports Page (inside the rodeo arena area). We are in contact with a few more Vendors, will report back at next month’s meeting.

So please contact Joyce Kenney, Kathi Kersey or Jodi Comstock to get more detail and to help promote these sponsorships. Phone # 586-9266
This was a very nice report with great detail, thank you ladies!

Anji has informed of us of a website called myspace.com/kennewickhighalumni. This is a great way to chat and find old class mates! There are already 203 friends as alumnus getting in touch with each other!
Our own web-site www.kennewickhigh.org has had 1,017,979 hits since 01/19/08. The mass e-mail link is working on the web-site now.
Questions or comments: Anji Fraser-Pickard (1989) bruneau@juno.com

We have a large quantity of shirts for sale. $15.00 for S, M, L, XL; $17.00 for 2X; $18.00 for 3X.
Sara has offered to help promote selling the shirts, please call her at 582-6287.

We are going to have a 50/50 raffle at the May 3rd FEVER game. If you would like to help out please contact Angie Hall at 735-7273.

Motion made to spend $500.00 to buy tickets and send them out to pre-paid people. Motion accepted. None apposed.

The ticket committee has taken charge of this and will report and keep us up to date at next month’s meeting.

It was discussed that the decade POC’s need to begin meeting regularly to define decorations and get active participation.

Lee Ford ( 1972 ) has offered to arrange the entertainment for 2 days. He has several great bands lined up. Some of the bands include; Colorblind, Duct Tape, The Ole’ Time Fiddlers and many more fill-ins. Joe Byrne has met with Lee and likes the arrangements.

Motion made that we pay him $5000.00. Motion accepted. None apposed.

We have finalized the security for the Reunion with the Posse. They will put in up to 100 hours of time for $15.00/hour.

Motion made to pay them $1,500.00. Motion accepted and approved. None apposed.

Motion made to earmark $4000.00 for the fairgrounds. Motion accepted and approved. None apposed.

New business:

Debbie Stevens has volunteered to be the Volunteer Coordinator. This is a great and much needed position that she filled….. THANK YOU Debbie!!!
What this means is that she will be getting and signing up volunteers to help us in many aspects of the Reunion. If you know anyone that says they would like to help but doesn’t know in what capacity they can help, (for example; to make phone calls, sell tickets, decorate, hang posters or help in any fashion) PLEASE have them call Debbie at: Phone numbers: 396-4608 or 586-2243, or e-mail her at bsadlmom@yahoo.com
What’s really special is all her kids are Lions AND her husband is an Alumnus from the class of 1969. So gather names and send them to her!

George Boyce is making a Lion BBQ that will be offered up for a silent auction at the Reunion. Proceeds go to the Historical Museum.

It was brought to our attention that our by-laws need to have an article added. In a nut shell the article states the fact that if the ACR is dissolved the assets will not sit in limbo. They will go to either Kennewick High School or an organization which supports KHS and which satisfies Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue code.

Motion made to add article XVI. Dissolution of the ACR. Motion passed.

Any questions or comments, please call Joe Byrne.

As you can see a lot of important things have been discussed, so please come to the meeting and share any thoughts or concerns.

Meeting adjourned at 8:55pm.

Next meeting is March 20th at 7:00pm at the Lutheran church off highway 395.

Respectfully submitted by,
Angie (Bradley) Hall ~ 1984
