KHS 2008 All Class Reunion
– General Meeting –

May 17, 2007

The meeting was called to order by Joe Byrne at 7:07. Officers present were Lynn Gillespie, Eva Hubbard, Dee Yeager and Ruth Locati. There were 22 members present and one guest.

Ruth Locati read For the Good of the Group. Jerry Sleater read the minutes; accepted without amendment.

Eva Hubbard gave the financial report. Bank balance is $2,037.51. Not showing in the balance is another check for tickets in the amount of $40.00. Eva stated any money now received from our online store with cafepress will be all profit.

Gus Calapristi, from the band Retread, spoke to the group. Retread is a classic rock band that plays music mainly from the 60’s to mid 80’s era. Standard rate for them is around $200.00 an hour. Pat Martell commented her age group would prefer county and western music or the big band era. Pam Roberts suggested we have more than one band. Gus suggested we check out the bands that play at Ivory Jazz in downtown Kennewick since they tend more toward the 40’s type music. Gene Spaulding suggested the Benton County music teachers that can play music from several eras. Their cost would be around $200 per hour. Pat Martell will check on the band that plays at the Senior Center in Pasco. Joe suggested the Old Time Fiddlers and will contact them. It was suggested we have more than one group, playing different kinds of music and each playing for only a couple hours.

Dan Yeager reported another mass email has been sent out and there were several positive responses. Still waiting for ticket sales to go online; should be active soon. Dan also reported Clover Island Inn has reserved a block of 50 rooms for reunion attendees, which can be expanded if needed. Cost will be $79.00 for a queen single and $89.00 for a queen double.

Consensus is to keep decorating costs to a minimum; the simpler the better. It was suggested memorials to deceased classmates be put up in each building as part of decorating. Each decade will be responsible for how much they want to decorate above the minimum.

Dee Yeager reported Facilities Scheduling says it’s too early to schedule a school tour of Kennewick High during the All Class Reunion; contact them again next Spring.

A suggestion was made to have Kennewick High Band play during the opening ceremonies. Bernie Borgen suggested having a booth at the Benton County Fair this August to advertise the All Class Reunion.

Meeting adjourned at 8:35

The next meeting will be June 21st at 7:00 P.M., First Lutheran Church.

Respectfully Submitted,
Dee Yeager
Secretary 2008 KHS ACR
