KENNEWICK HIGH SCHOOL ALL CLASS REUNION
The meeting of the Kennewick High School All Class Reunion (KHS ACR) was called to order by President Joe Byrne at 7:15 p.m.
There were 27 members present.
Dee Sleater Secretary Pro-Tem Class of 1969 read For the Good of the Group.
Debra Blum, Secretary Class of 1971 read the Minutes. Mary Stultz Class of 1952 made a motion to accept the minutes as read. John Tait Class of 1971 seconds the motion. The minutes were approved as read.
There was no financial report presented, and Debra Blum Class of 1971 read the deposits made and the balance as of the June 30, 2006 Bank Statement.
Penny Traeger class of 1958 won our first Brown Bag Drawing, which made $18.00. Penny will bring the next Brown Bag to be raffled off. Tickets are 4 / $1.00.
Old Business
Gene Spaulding Class of 1954 stated that he has scheduled the second week of September to meet with the Benton County Commissioners.
Bill McCollom Class of 1970 reported about our Fund Raising meeting that was held at the Kennewick Library. Ideas presented and acted upon was a Tupperware Party, auction of a vehicle, Antique Road Show, Alumni vs. KHS Basketball game, Football jamboree between Pasco and Kennewick before football season starts, sock hop, contest at the Toyota center, concert in the park featuring a local artist, and dinner before the meetings.
John Tait Class of 1971 elaborated on the Antique Road Show, featuring Terry and Kathy Maurer from Pasco. They would come between 5 - 7 p.m. on November 16, 2006 before our meeting. For $10.00 per person / per item they will offer a stated value for your item. The charge for Terry and Kathy Maurer will be $80.00 for the two hours. The balance of the monies made will be our profit. If more people are here, they will stay longer for no additional charge.
Debra Blum, elaborated on the Tupperware Party with September 9 from 10 - 2 at the Library in Kennewick on Union Street, with delivery being September 30 from 10 - noon at the Library in Kennewick. We will make a 40% profit. Tupperware books will be available at our next meeting.
The Logo was decided upon. Dave Drollinger will continue making some fine tune-ups to it and have the final copy available at the August meeting.
Dee Sleater and Dave Drollinger both stated that the new website is going very well. The roster has been copied to the site, along with the all of the Minutes, By-Laws, Web Contract and all present ads sold have the links attached. The site is very secure. The site appears to be moving along on schedule and no problems appear to be seen with the transfer with the registration of the domain name. Everything will be password protected; meaning classmates will have their own password to sign onto the site.
Marleen Hazen Class of 1960 inquired how the site is being paid for. Joe Byrne explained the selling of the contracts.
Marleen Hazen Class of 1960 inquired about the In Loving Memory being posted on her web site. Dee Sleater explained about the continuity of the web site in having things be the same to help in the move to the new site.
E-mail rosters were handed out with updated information about all class POC=s. Linda Durfey, class of 1958 inquired about the definition of POC. POC is Point of Contact.
Debra Blum Class of 1971 presented the set of DVD=s given by Video Ventures to the All Class Reunion Committee from the 2004 Reunion. The discussion was held as to whom to give them to, the Kennewick Library or the Benton County Historical Society. Discussion was held that if the Kennewick Library had them, there was a possibility after a period of time the Friends of the Library may sell them and they would become unavailable. It was then suggest giving them to the Benton County Historical Society. Bill McCollom Class of 1970 made a motion to give them to the Benton County Historical Society and Mary Stultz Class of 1952 second the motion. The motion carried and the DVD=s were presented to Dottie Aman Class of 1949 to take to the Benton County Historical Society.
Dottie Aman Class of 1949 contacted Judy Bettendorf Class of 1972 during the past month to see if Bettendorf=s printing would create some business cards for us. Dottie presented the business cards to us, and the members present signed a thank you card to be mailed to Judy and Tim Bettendorf Class of 1972 and 1970 respectively.
New Business:
Debra Blum presented an idea of nametags for officers and / or members to purchase if so desired made by Mounts Engraving. There was a discussion as to the heft of the nametags. Once the final Logo is made available she will take the logo to Mounts to see if they can create a lighter nametag.
We are in need of someone to create a flier for the first mailing.
Cost of tickets was discussed and tabled until the August meeting.
Ruth Locati gave her opinion on KHS vs. KEHS and had the suggestion that we should possibly contact the school board to have KHS be KHS and allow Kamiakin be KaHS. Ruth received a round of applause for her opinion and suggestion.
The announcement for the next meeting is set for Thursday August 17, 2006 at the Masonic Temple in Kennewick, 7 p.m.
Dee Sleater Class of 1969 offered to bring refreshments.
Joe Byrne Class of 1976 adjourned the meeting at 8:55 p.m.
