Reports –
Gene Spaulding stated that Roger has been ill this past month and will do his best to get us color copies of the Logo for our May meeting.
Old Business –
Kathi Kersey stated that she had received a copy of the 2004 contract from the Fair Grounds, for us to review before Gene would meet with the County Commissioners. Gene stated that he will meet with the Commissioners in either June or July. The Secretary for the Commissioners will let Gene know when meeting schedule is available.
Gene also mentioned a four part story in the Benton County Historical newspaper about the Masonics and their lodge. Gene asked for a show of hands as to how many are members of the historical society. A large majority of the members present are also members of the historical society.
The money from the 2004 reunion was given to the Historical Society in the form of a CD, and the interest is given to the Historical Society.
Henry Belair has in his possession of the class photos from 1907 to 1981. Henry has always stated that he does not own the photos and that they are to go to the Benton County Museum upon his passing or the closure of his restaurant. Henry rescued the photos from the high school before they could be disposed of.
New Business –
Ken Nelson, Class of 1971, and Economic Developer with the City of Kennewick, informed us of the website http://www.pni.gov/edo/business/alumni/ This web site is sponsored by Tri-City Industrial Development Council, Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The idea is to attract the resources of former Tri-Citians who have gone on to fame and fortune. The criteria; once lived in Benton or Franklin counties and now own their own higly successful businesses, hold executive position in companies or have a net worth of more than $3 million. The program invites them to contribute their capabilities, capital and connections to benefit the Tri-Cities while creating opportunities for themselves. Ken is wanting us to contribute names of KHS alumni that might fit into this category. Names may be submitted by going directly to the web site.
An e-mail request came to our attention that an individual is looking for clothing from the 2004 reunion. If you have an item that you would like to sell, please forward the information to Debra Blum and she will provide you with the e-mail address for the individual looking for the items of clothing.
